My first All Blacks experience was a game against Scotland at Eden Park in 1990. In the days before the internet and pre-purchasing tickets, my Dad made the decision to go to the game last minute, that morning.
So off we rushed to stand in line with 1000s of other fans to get into the infamous eastern terraces. The line was long, and I was getting itchy feet, not because it was raining, but kick off was fast approaching and what I really wanted to see, was the haka live!
We got our tickets just in time and I remember charging up the stairs under the terraces and coming out just in time to see it! The rest of the game I didn’t see much, it rained…a lot, and everyone put their umbrellas up which blocked my view and brought about a lot of angry language I had not heard before.
