2015 was the 7th time NZ had been in a Cricket World Cup semi-final and like 1992 it was a tense match unfolding at Eden Park. NZ needed 12 runs off the last 6 balls, with one of the best bowlers in the world, Dale Steyn, bowling them.
5 runs were needed off the last 2 balls, before Grant Elliott hit Steyn for six sending 45,000 people at the ground and countless 1000s of Black Caps fans around the world into rapture! NZ had finally unlocked the next stage and reached the final for the first time!
For me, I was living in London at the time and was ‘working from home’ that morning, but unfortunately found myself on a conference call during the pivotal final overs. When Elliott lofted the six over long on, I jumped up and danced around the lounge punching the air, all in complete silence while someone was speaking to me on the phone…I don’t remember what they were talking about!
If you don't know what I’m talking about, you can relive it here - https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=1945861908766229. Enjoy!
